Glastonbury viewers convinced they spotted the Queen ‘in disguise’ at festival
‘That disguise is fooling nobody’
Queen Elizabeth apparently enjoyed a jaunt out to Glastonbury over the weekend when fans spotted an uncanny look-alike in the crowd for one of Friday night’s performances.
During the BBC’s coverage of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss’s show, the camera did a close-up shot of the audience, where a woman wearing a blue raincoat and sunglasses could be seen bobbing her head amongst the crowd.
It didn’t take long for viewers at home to point out the striking resemblance the woman bore to the monarch, with many being convinced it was her Majesty herself enjoying some post-Jubilee celebrations.
One viewer shared a snippet of the moment to Twitter, writing: “Lovely to see the Queen enjoying a bit of Robert Plant at Glastonbury.”
One person wrote: “The Queen has turned up at Glastonbury to watch Robert Plant. That disguise is fooling nobody #Glastonbury.”
Another joked: “Lovely to see the Queen enjoying a bit of Robert Plant at Glastonbury.”
And a third commented: “This is brilliant… Liz at a festival! I’d love to see that.”
And she wasn’t the only festival-goer proving age is just a number over the weekend, with Sir Paul McCartney making Glastonbury history as the oldest headlining musician.
Just a week after celebrating his eightieth birthday, the former Beatle took to the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm on Saturday night, where he performed a mixture of classic Beatles tracks and his own solo hits.
During the more-than two hour set, McCartney treated the audience to a range of classic songs including ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’, Hey Jude’, ‘Blackbird’, ‘Live And Let Die’, ‘Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da’ and ‘Get Back’.
And for the encore, McCartney was able to duet an emotional version of ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’ with late band member John Lennon, thanks to special technology that isolated his vocals from old recordings.
An estimated 100,000 festival-goers were in attendance at the gig on Saturday night, while the BBC says 1.4 million more people tuned in to watch from home.
