An unsuspecting grandad has become a viral sensation after his grandchildren took him to the UK’s rudest restaurant.

Ellie Coleman treated her eighty-two-year-old Grandad Albert to a birthday meal out at Karen’s Diner, a Sheffield restaurant known for its deliberately rude staff and poor customer service.

However, poor Albert had no inkling about the restaurant’s premise, and was in for a shock as staff members hurled insults at him as he ate his meal.

In footage secretly filmed by Ellie, Albert can be seen looking bewildered and somewhat amused as one waiter calls him a ‘d***head’ and another tells him to ‘f**k off’.

He was also pictured being made to wear a paper hat with the words ‘old b*****d’ scrawled across the front, while staff sang him a cheery rendition of ‘happy birthday, f**k off’.

At the end of the clip, Albert can then be heard telling his granddaughter: “It’s not my scene.”

Since being posted last week, Ellie’s video has had over 6 million views, with thousands of people praising Albert for taking the whole experience within his stride.

One person wrote: “I feel bad for him but it’s funny at the same time. Bless him”, while another commented: “Omg your grandad is the cutest!”

Responding to some concern about Albert’s wellbeing following the meal, however, Ellie provided a follow up video where her grandad thanked everyone for their worries.

Sitting in his armchair and enjoying an Angel Slice in seemingly high spirits, Albert thanked everyone for the comments before quickly telling those who had written ‘mean’ comments to ‘b******s off’.

Karen’s Diner, which has gained viral fame for its intentionally rude staff and ‘terrible’ customer service, is set to soon open a restaurant in Prestwich.

An exact opening date is yet to be announced and details surrounding the new venue have remained tightly under wraps, so make sure to follow Karen’s Diner on social media for news and updates.
