A pub in Greater Manchester has divided opinions after bosses asked for ‘no snowflakes’ in a job advert for a new chef.
The Queen Anne on Bridge Street in Golborne, near Warrington, shared an image of their job listing, which had been written on a blackboard sign outside.
The job ad reads: “Chef wanted. Please ask inside for details.”
While the message seems nothing too out of the ordinary, an extra message in blue chalk adds at the bottom: “No snowflakes please!!”.
The owners, who describe the pub as a ‘small family run free house in the north of England that prides ourselves in serving good beer and great food’ also put a photo of the board on Facebook with the caption: “We are still looking for chefs to join our busy kitchen team.
“So if you want to be involved with serving and making the best homemade food that Golborne has to offer, are hardworking and not a snowflake pop in and have a chat with us or drop us a message.”
Opinions were divided with the humorous quip amongst the pub’s followers on Facebook, with some people finding issue with their use of the phrase, which typically applies to people who are ‘woke’ or ‘sensitive’.
One person commented: “I genuinely hope you find no one.”

However, some people were able to find the funny side, with one Facebook user agreeing and writing: “Snowflakes are taking over the world.”
Landlord Christopher Darnbrough has since defended the post, with him telling the Manchester Evening News that he is simply looking for a hard worker.
He said: “Since the lockdown, we have had a lot of flaky people who don’t want to work and just breeze in and out and are constantly wanting time off.
