The I’m A Celebrity Jungle Challenge in Salford Quays has closed down just fifteen months after making its debut.
The family attraction, which is based around the hit ITV reality show, opened to the public last summer with the promise to ‘take Campmates into the heart of the jungle to navigate a series of fun-filled physical challenges’.
However, ITV bosses have now announced the attraction will close ‘with immediate effect’, with them telling the Manchester Evening News it ‘has become financially unviable going forward’.
A statement on the attraction’s Facebook page reads: “ITV has made the decision to close the IAC Jungle Challenge Attraction with immediate effect.
“All customers with future bookings will be automatically contacted via the booking email and fully refunded. Please allow 7 working days for the team to process your refund and for the money to appear back in your bank account.”
A spokesperson for ITV added: “ITV have made the decision to close the IAC Jungle Challenge Attraction as it has become financially unviable going forward.
“We’d like to express our thanks to the staff at our operator Continuum for their work during the time it has been open.
“Where practical, we will seek to redeploy team members across our other attractions operated by Continuum.”

The attraction saw competitors take part in a number of different challenges based on the ITV celebrity show in a bid to be crowned ‘King or Queen of the Jungle’.
The winning ‘King’ or ‘Queen’ was given a crown of flowers to wear on a wooden throne, with digital photos provided as part of the experience.
The winner would also get the opportunity to walk along the ‘winner’s bridge’, just like celebrities on the hit ITV show get to do.
