May has been a washout this year, with colder than average temperatures and rain dampening the start to summer.
The good news is indoor drinking and dining can return from today, so you don’t have to wrap up warm to go out for cocktails anymore. And the even better news is that as we approach summer the temperatures are going to look a lot better, so you best start dusting off your barbecues.
According to the weather experts at AccuWeather, the forecast is looking good for the UK with scorching temperatures for the majority of next month – including in Manchester.
Manchester and other parts of the North are forecast to have 16 consecutive days of sunshine with top temperatures of 21C, the Mirror reports. This 16-day hot streak is set to begin on June 15th and end on July 1st, so will also coincide with the current date for all lockdown restrictions to end – June 21st. Unfortunately the rest of May isn’t looking so good, with the Met Office forecasting the next couple of weeks to be as ‘cold’ in the north of the UK and the heavy showers aren’t going away.

According to their forecast: “Unsettled conditions continuing, with scattered showers again developing across most areas.
“To start the period, these may be heavy, and at times wintry in the far north, especially over hills.
“Further into this period, it is likely to remain changeable with a mixture of sunshine and scattered showers, though heavy in places with a risk of thunder.
“Brief spells of more organised cloud, bringing rain and strong winds, remain possible, particularly in the south. Generally staying breezy throughout. “While temperatures by night are likely to below average, frost is expected to be restricted to prone locations, especially where winds fall light. “By day, temperatures are likely to be around or slightly below average, notably cool in the South but cold in the North.” June can’t come around soon enough…
