BIG Halloween news: Manchester’s famed inflatable rooftop-dwelling monsters will officially be making their grand return this year.
Every Halloween for the last four years, the cartoon-esque monsters have appeared on various buildings and locations across the city centre such as Spinningfields, the Great Northern, the Printworks, Selfridges, the Arndale, Moda Angel Gardens and 111 Piccadilly.
Created by artists Filthy Luker and Pedro Estrellas from Designs in Air, the monsters prove to be a huge hit every year so, you’ll all be pleased to hear that the monsters will officially be making a comeback for their fifth residency.
It has been confirmed that the monsters will be returning to their rooftops on October 29th, where they’ll remain until November 1st once the Halloween festivities are over. Further details regarding which monsters will be making an appearance have so far been kept under wraps.

Also on the Halloween line up this year is Scare Skate, a spooky ice rink event featuring Halloween-themed music and lighting, along with a band of ghoulish skating monsters who will join skaters on the ice every hour from October 22nd-31st.
Rob Derry, ice director at Arena, which coordinates the event, said on the plans: “There’s a real buzz around Halloween in Manchester. The city is a major destination for anyone looking to get into the spooky spirit thanks to Monsters in the City, an amazing spectacle that brings larger than life fun and fear.
“Scare Skate offers something brand new: an exciting, active, and creative activity, in a breath-taking setting, that brings chills and thrills for families, friends and colleagues looking to celebrate the season. We’re hoping to see as many people in fancy dress as possible.”
