McDonald’s has extended its 20% food offer to all NHS workers for the rest of the year as a thank you for their hard work.

The fast food giant first unveiled its temporary NHS discount back in July, but has now extended it for the remainder of 2022.

The NHS Discount Offers scheme allows all NHS staff to apply for the discount when ordering online; to get the money off, they simply need to sign up to the McDonald’s app with their NHS email address.

Within forty-eight hours of registration, the offer will appear in the deals section of the app.

However, there is one catch; those eligible for the offer can only use it once a week as it expires and refreshes every Monday.

David Bater, marketing executive at NHS Discount Offers said: “This is a great start to the New Year for NHS staff who work in difficult and testing conditions all year round.

“Staff members take advantage of this money saving offer from McDonald’s as you can make significant savings.

“Its a really kind gesture from this well known UK brand and its great news they’ve extended the offer until the end of 2022”

This comes as the NHS continues to come under pressure from staff shortages as a result of the Omicron variant.

Last month, a GP in Liverpool warned that staff at his practice were under ‘unsustainable’ pressure as cases of the highly transmittable variant continue to rise.

Staff at Princes Park Health centre said they are exhausted as the centre had ‘never been so busy’ as a combined result of the variant, other winter illnesses and a two-year backlog due to the pandemic.
