A video which appears to show Morrisons staff asking a customer without a mask to wear a yellow sticker has gone viral.
The footage shows two Morrisons workers talking to the man who confirms he is medically exempt from wearing a mask.
The supermarket has now clarified its rules since the video appeared online, after some people were speculating Morrisons was forcing those who are exempt from wearing masks to wear a yellow sticker instead.
However, it has now been confirmed that the supermarket doesn’t actually have a policy like this in place at any of its stores.
A Morrisons spokesperson confirmed to the Manchester Evening News: “We can confirm that this is very much an isolated incident and not Morrisons Policy.
“We’re sorry the customer has had this experience, as our store marshals are well trained and understanding of those who are medically exempt.
“We’re following government guidelines to keep our colleagues and customers safe.
“Those who are offered a face covering and decline to wear one won’t be allowed to shop at Morrisons, unless they are medically exempt.”
The spokesperson added: “We’re also part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard scheme, so any customers with a hidden disability who would like a lanyard can get these in store too.
“But customers aren’t obliged to do so.
“This is so that colleagues and customers inside the store are aware that the customer is medically exempt.”
Morrisons also released a statement on Twitter, saying that they are currently investigating the incident seen in the video.
