Big retailers and fast food chains up and down the country are being forced to shut because of the coronavirus outbreak.
Primark, McDonald’s, Subway and Costa are all shutting their doors – to name but a few – and Nando’s is no different.
The chicken restaurant chain announced last night that it would be closing all of its UK sites until further notice.
But what about the workers? There’s been a bit of uncertainty about what might happen to some people’s jobs, even after the Government announced it’ll step in to pay wages.
Which is why messages like the one this Nando’s employee received are so needed.
Kyle Gillespie took to social media to reveal that he and other Nando’s employees had received a message saying their jobs were ‘100% secure’, and that they’ll be getting two weeks at full pay followed by 80% of their contracted hours until they reopen.
Kyle wrote on Twitter: “Nando’s are completely shutting from tonight and we’ve just got the nicest message from the boss saying our jobs are 100% secure and that we’ll be getting 2 weeks full pay then 80%.
“Really is the best company to work for but feeling sad that not everybody has been so lucky”.
A great move from Nando’s, we need more of this…
