Paddy McGuinness has returned to work following his shock split from wife Christine.

The couple, who share twins Penelope and Leo, eight, and Felicity, six, issued a joint statement last week where they announced their split after eleven years of marriage.

In their statement, they explained that they are still living together in their family home and that their main focus is ‘as always to continue loving and supporting our children’.

And now, just under a week on from the shock announcement, Paddy has broken his social media silence.

Taking to Instagram Stories, the TV presenter shared that he was back at work on Top Gear, which he hosts on the BBC alongside Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris.

Filming the boot of his car, which was loaded full of snacks and sweet treats for the crew, Paddy could be heard saying: “Back at Top Gear and we take our snacking very seriously.”

He then added: “We’ve got the lot in here!”

He later filmed his improvised bubble bath back at the hotel, showing how he had use a mug of shower gel to get any resemblance of bubbles going.

In seemingly good spirits, Paddy noted: “It’s not all glamour!”

The couple’s full statement posted on Friday read: “We hadn’t planned on sharing this publicly until we were ready but after the lack of privacy surrounding our personal life, we feel left with no other option but to clarify.

“A while ago we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus as always is to continue loving and supporting our children.

“This was not an easy decision to male but we’re moving forward as the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children. We’ll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together.

“We hope this now draws a line under anymore unwanted and unnecessary intrusion into our private life. Although we work in the public eye we ask kindly if you could respect our wishes for privacy on this matter. We’ll be making no further comment.”
