Paul O’Grady’s family issues heartfelt tribute as today, June 14th, would have been his 68th birthday.

In a tribute posted on Instagram on Wednesday morning, captioned ‘Remembering our Paul’, the late comedian’s loved ones said: “If today we were lucky still to have him with us, he would certainly not be amused at turning 68.

“But we will celebrate his birthday with a drink or two. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAUL – thinking of you always.”

The post immediately received thousands of likes and was inundated with tributes and outpourings of love in the comments section.

One follower gushed: “Heavenly birthday Paul still seems surreal ur not here anymore but heaven has gained a pure saint.” Another fan declared: “Never, ever, forgotten! A wonderful human!!”

Hundreds more comments wished the comedian a ‘happy heavenly birthday’, sharing how much they ‘missed and loved’ Paul.

Paul’s husband Andre Portasio wrote: “HAPPY HEAVENLY BIRTHDAY. Myself and dogs miss you lots and we can only wish you were here with us. Love you always.”

The legendary entertainer, who was born in Birkenhead, died ‘unexpectedly’ but ‘peacefully’ on March 28th this year.

Since then there has been a huge outpour of public tributes and love for the national treasure from fans, celebrities and organisations across the country.

Wirral Council is also proposing to give the star the Freedom of the Borough posthumously on a date next month, with a ceremony for his family to be arranged.
