As coronavirus spreads around the world, some people are going to extreme measures to stay safe.

The most common methods are face masks and washing your hands with soap, but what do you do to protect your fingers when using a lift, or pressing the bell on the bus?

Well, you could wear gloves, or failing that stick a condom on your finger – which is exactly what some people have been doing.

According to reports, people have been panic-buying condoms and putting them on their fingers when using the buttons in the lift.

Some photos on social media also show shelves empty of Durex over in Singapore and Australia, with one person asking: “Can anybody please tell me what happened.”

Someone explained why it was happening, writing: “There has been some stupid post telling people to put condoms on their fingers to push buttons etc”.

And photos from Singapore show people with condoms on their fingers pressing lift buttons, with one person tweeting: “Condoms in Singapore sold out amidst coronavirus fear. Since Singaporeans have been using the condom as a protective measure when touching the elevator buttons in their apartments and other buildings to prevent being contaminated.”

While it’s very important to stay safe out there, it’s probably best you don’t start walking around Manchester with condom fingers….
