Prince Harry will wear his military uniform at a special memorial service for the Queen on Saturday, according to new reports.

While the Duke of Sussex served on the front line during two tours of Afghanistan during his ten year service with the British Army, he has been denied the chance to wear his uniform as he publicly mourned his grandmother as he is no longer a working royal.

Despite being a former Army officer, he has been seen in civilian dress for official events, including the journey behind Her Majesty’s coffin as it was carried to Westminster Hall to lie in state.

His uncle Prince Andrew, however, was given special exemption from the dress code for the planned vigil this weekend, despite being embroiled in the Jeffrey Epstein child sex trafficking scandal.

But now, Palace officials have intervened by allowing Prince Harry to also wear his military uniform, along with the Queen’s seven other grandchildren, at a fifteen minute silent vigil next to the Queen’s coffin in Westminster Hall on Saturday (September 17th).

A royal source told The Mirror: “Common sense has prevailed.

“It was a ludicrous situation given the Duke of Sussex has served his country and is a highly respected member of the armed forces with everything he has done for veterans.

“It is important that the Queen’s grandchildren are all made to feel welcome and comfortable as they grieve their beloved grandmother together.”

The source added that the decision was taken without consulting Harry, who was prepared to wear whatever the Queen had planned for him.

This comes after it was announced Prince Andrew would not be permitted to wear military dress for the Queen’s funeral on Monday September 19th.

The disgraced second son of the late monarch was stripped of his honorary military role at the start of this year due to his connections and friendship with paedophile and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

He also paid $16m (£12m) to settle a civil sexual assault case to Virginia Roberts, who alleged Andrew sexually abused her when she was a minor.
