A woman’s impassioned rant about the price her husband paid for a leg of lamb in Tesco has gone viral this week.

Rozalia Linder took to her local Facebook community group What’s on in Ramsbottom to vent about the steep price of the lamb, which her husband Clive had brought home from their local Tesco over the weekend.

Rozalia said she was ‘mortified’ by the price of the 2.360kg piece of meat, sharing a photo and writing: “Sent Clive to Tesco for a leg of lamb… £30.86p!!!… Absolutely Mortified at the price!!”

She went on to explain that Clive did question a member of staff about the price, but simply accepted the answer and bought it anyway.

Rozalia’s rant continued: “I’m Not prepared to pay this!! [sic] some families don’t even have £30 a week to feed their children…. Something Needs to be done.

“I will be taking this item back to Tesco tomorrow and asking for my money back!!!!!!”

The impassioned post was quick to go viral and, instead of receiving the sympathy and advice she was looking for, Rozalia was instead bombarded with an influx of jokes and memes.

The post was inundated with ‘#SaveClive’ and ‘#LambGate’ comments, with one Facebook user writing: “It will be hereafter known as the Clive Paradox: Is it better to go home without lamb and really pi** the wife off, or buy an expensive leg of lamb and really pi** the wife off?”

Another joked: “I think Clive has been silenced. Just like the lambs.”

Someone has even set up a fundraiser in Clive’s name, titled the ‘CLIVE AID for RAMSBOTTOM PANTRY‘, with the aim of raising money for Ramsbottom’s local food bank.

The GoFundMe, which has raised an impressive £605 at the time of writing, has a pun-riddled description which reads: “If LAMBSBOTTOM has given you a giggle, it would be wonderful if *ewe* could all donate enough to buy 10 legs of Tesco lamb (or whatever supplies are needed) for RAMSBOTTOM PANTRY…

“And then maybe CLIVE will do a free *meat* and greet.”

Thankfully, Rozalia has been able to see the funny side to the reaction to her original post, with the fifty-two-year-old telling the Manchester Evening News that while she’s taken the comments in good humour, Clive isn’t too impressed.

She said: “He keeps swearing at me and telling me to go out of his room but I find it hilarious.

“I can just imagine him walking through Rammy [sic] and people beeping their horns at him saying: ‘Clive’s alive’. Clive will not see the funny side which makes it even more hilarious for me.

“Everyone has been saying he needs to get a t-shirt saying ‘don’t worry I’m alive’, he’ll never be able to go in Tesco again.”
