Good news for all you long-suffering motorway dwellers; Tebay has submitted plans to open a new site right here in Greater Manchester.

If plans for the proposed Tatton Services are approved, a luxury farm-shop style service station will be built near junctions seven and eight on the M56, near Altrincham and Manchester Airport.

Excitingly, the brains behind the upcoming Tatton Services is the family-owned Westmorland, which owns and operates the Tebay Service Stations.

These stations are widely regarded as some of the best service stations in the whole country, so we can expect some seriously grand things from the upcoming M56 project.

The new venture, which has come through a partnership with Tatton Group, aims to build a sustainability-focused rest stop for travellers, with the promise to use local produce, make all of its food in house and from scratch and not send any waste to a landfill.

The submitted plans, as detailed by Place North West, call detail approximately 655 car parking spaces, including fifty-four electrical charging points and room for HGVs, coaches, caravans and motorcycles.

Each customer will be able to get their preferred fuel at the scheme’s ‘fuel barn,’ which will be adaptable so traditional fuel offerings can be scaled down and electric vehicle charge points can be eventually added.

And for those struggling to stay awake behind the wheel after a lengthy drive, there will also be a hotel offering 100 rooms for a good night’s kip.

Water-efficient showerheads, toilets, fittings and appliances would be installed in the buildings as well.

Westmorland and Tatton Group estimate that Tatton Services would receive more than 4 million customers each year.

The Tatton Services website states: “Tatton Services’ intention is to champion our locality, creating a beacon of quality and individuality for our customers and bringing local benefits to local people, as well as local food producers.

“Embracing the positive changes taking place in our industry, this project has sustainability at its heart.”
