Bad news for all you avid bargain hunters; Tesco is hiking the cost of its beloved meal deal next week.
The Tesco meal deal has become somewhat of a cultural phenomenon here in the UK, mainly thanks to its vast selection of sandwiches, salads, pasta pots, snacks and expensive smoothies that can all be bought together for just £3.
There’s even a Facebook community dedicated to the cost-effective deal, Rate My Meal Deal, which has over 11,000 members showing off and critiquing meal deal variations. It’s truly a ray of light in the otherwise dark world of Facebook.
But all good things must come to an end because, from next week, shoppers will have to fork out an extra 50p for their meal deal when the cost rises to £3.50.
Though fear not, because there is a way around the price rise; Tesco has confirmed that Clubcard holders will be able to get the meal deal for its original price of £3.

Tesco chief customer officer Alessandra Bellini said: “Adding our ever-popular lunchtime meal deal to Clubcard Prices is the latest way we’re rewarding our 20 million Clubcard members with exclusive deals on thousands of products.
“Clubcard Prices have already given millions of customers the power to lower the cost of their weekly shop – and all while earning points for money off their shopping or rewards like family days out at Alton Towers or a Disney+ subscription.”
Back in January, Tesco launched a new way for its Clubcard customers to pay, save and pick up points every time they spend in stores or online.
All Clubcard members can now apply online for Tesco Clubcard Pay+, a pre-payment debit card provided by Tesco Bank.
Shoppers can use the pre-payment card in any store or for online spending, but can only spend cash that was actively put onto the card – it won’t let customers spend money directly from a current account.
