An animal sanctuary in Ramsbottom has appealed to find a home for a pair of ‘inseparable’ Siberian huskies before the New Year.

Three-year-old Angel and four-year-old Logan are not brother and sister, but have been together for most of their lives and have subsequently formed a deep bond.

The dogs are so close, in fact, that they even experience anxiety when separated on short walks.

Therefore, staff at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary in the village of Ramsbottom, near Bury, are desperate to find the dogs a home together before the New Year, though are worried they may have to be split up.

Thanks to the breeds’ size and high maintenance upkeep, staff have been struggling to find a perspective owner happy to take the dogs in as a pair three months after their arrival at the sanctuary.

On the Bleakholt website, it states that both dogs have lived with children in the past so will be ideal for families, though both will need homes with large outdoor spaces and owners who have experience with huskies or similar breeds.

On Logan – the brown husky – the website says: “Logan is a very loving boy that likes to sing you a song… He does love cold weather so you must enjoy being out in the cold, he does need plenty of physical and mental exercise to keep them happy and healthy.”

Angel also enjoys being out in the cold weather, and needs ‘plenty of physical and mental exercise to keep her happy and healthy’.

Sallie Conroy from Bleakholt told ITV News: “If they don’t get the mental or physical needs met, they can become destructive, they become bored very easily. They enjoy running, so someone who does a lot of fell running would be ideal.

Staff member Bekki Wolstenholme added: “Splitting them is not something we want to do but, in a sense of their welfare, getting them into a home might be their best option. Because asking someone to take on two very active and very strong huskies is a lot for them to take on.”
