The Wanted’s Tom Parker made it onto the stage during the band’s Liverpool gig last week, despite being too weak to stand.

The Bolton-born singer, who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in late 2020,  was supported by his wife and children as he took to the stage in his wheelchair, which he has been reliant on since starting treatment at a specialist clinic in Spain.

Despite his condition, however, Tom has been finding the strength to join his band mates on some of their UK tour dates, with bandmate Max George branding him a ‘hero’.

Taking to Instagram, Max wrote: “It’s been an epic few weeks…One last show my boy…You are a true hero mate. Can’t wait for the next tour with you…Liverpool… Can you hear us???!”

Tom shared the grave news of his stage 4 glioblastoma diagnosis on Instagram in October 2020, writing on the platform: “There’s no easy way to say this but I’ve sadly been diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and I’m already undergoing treatment.”

He explained that he and his wife Kelsey had decided to go public with the diagnosis, adding: “We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna [sic] fight this all the way.”

Over the last year the couple have been sharing regular updates on their journey, with Kelsey recently opening up about the difficulty of being away from their children while Tom undergoes treatment.

Sharing a clip of her reuniting with her children after three weeks in Spain, Kelsey writing: “The Reality of Cancer. Me and @tomparkerofficial as you know have been over in Spain for treatment.

“Which meant the longest time away from our babies. You don’t realise how someone having cancer really affects the whole family.

“The hardest decision we ever had to make but yet our village of people our family and friends supported us and said ‘What can I do?’.

“Can’t explain how much we missed our babies x”.
