Wine starts coming out of taps in Italian village after issue at local winery

Sounds alright…

As far as issues with your taps go, having wine spurt out of them is a pretty good problem to have.

That’s exactly what happened to residents in a small Italian village this week, when they realised their taps were spurting out red wine instead of water.

No, it wasn’t the handiwork of Jesus, just an issue at a local winery that caused Lambrusco sparkling red wine to spurt out.

People in the Castelvetro area of Modena in Italy’s northern Emilia-Romagna region were affected by the bizarre problem.

It turns out a nearby winery accidentally pumped a load of wine into the local water system due to a ‘technical fault’, causing a pink liquid to spew forth from their kitchen taps.

One of the wine silos leaked its goods into the water pipes, and because it was being stored at a high pressure it ran through the system and into nearby houses.

According to the Gazetta di Modena, residents quickly ‘bottled as much of the precious liquid as they could to enjoy later at a lunch or dinner’, but sadly the waterboard managed to fix the problem fairly quickly.

The council posted on Facebook that it was fixed, but some residents complained it was resolved too quickly.

Wouldn’t mind this happening tonight, to be honest…
