A woman has divided opinions after admitting to sending the serial number from a tampon packet to Tampax after finding it at her boyfriend’s house.

Twenty-three-year-old Lois Sanders from Liverpool took to TikTok to share that she’d discovered a stray (and firmly packaged, don’t worry) Tampax tampon and Benefit mascara under her boyfriend’s wardrobe in his university house.

According to Lois, neither the tampon nor the mascara were hers and neither had accumulated enough dust under the wardrobe to have been there for a long time, which suggested they were recent additions.

Despite her boyfriend denying ever having another girl in his room and pointing out that the items must have belonged to the room’s previous occupant, Lois decided to do a little digging to see whether her other half had been unfaithful or not.

In her investigation, Lois actually reached out to Tampax via their email address with the serial number from the packet, explaining to the company that she needed to find out when it had been manufactured in order to clear up her boyfriend’s alibi.

Unexpectedly, a member of the Tampax customer service team emailed back, explaining the incriminating tampon had been manufactured on December 11th 2019, while also explaining how the serial numbers work (for future reference, probably).

The email, from a team member called Grace, explained: “The code on the wrapper (or on the box of tampons) is the production code, and indicates the date the tampons were manufactured… You can use the first 4 digits of the production code on the package to work out the production date of your product.”

This was before Finn moved in, with Lois then clearing his name and coming to the conclusion that it must have belonged to a female tenant who had lived there before him.

Lois admitted that Finn had called her ‘f*****g nuts’ at the time, but shared that they are ‘still together to this day, so happy ending’. However, a vast proportion of the TikTok community didn’t seem to agree, with many pointing out that her behaviour was a major red flag.

One person wrote: “Finn if you are reading this mate RUN”, while another commented: “I’m not sure if this is genius or borderline psycho”.

Though others were quick to applaud the Tampax customer service team for their swift and efficient response, with one viewer pointing out: “Grace at Tampax deserves a pay rise”.
