The woman who enjoyed a surprise proposal on stage at Parklife over the weekend has spoken of her joy after being gifted a honeymoon by the festival’s boss Sacha Lord.

Myles Goodfellow, twenty-five, proposed to girlfriend Indy Gerghaty, twenty-three, during Yung Filly’s set on the main stage on Saturday, June 11th.

Indy accepted her boyfriend’s proposal, resulting in the 80,000-strong festival crowd to erupt into cheers and applause.

Despite the happy news, however, the Scottish couple were met with a wave of criticism by cruel internet trolls in the aftermath, resulting in the festival’s boss Sacha Lord to reach out and offer them the wedding gift of a lifetime.

Taking to Instagram the day after the proposal, Greater Manchester’s Nighttime Economy Advisor slammed the reaction to the couple’s engagement as ‘quite frankly vile’, saying he would like to pay for their honeymoon and give them free entry to Parklife and The Warehouse Project ‘for life’.

His post read: “I would like to find this couple and give them free entry to Parklife and The Warehouse Project for life and not only that, but to pay for their honeymoon, so that when they go away, I want them to sit there in the sun posting pictures to social media, knowing that those people who had a go at them are bitter, and they’re not there.”

Since his generous offer, Lord has managed to track down Myles and Indy, with him speaking to the pair over the phone as they travelled back to Scotland from the festival.

Indy has since spoken out about their wedding gift, with her first tweeting: “I was that girl, I can’t stop crying reading that post. I have struggled and never really had much family.

“My partner doing this yesterday was one of the best days of my life. He is my family. To wake up to hateful comments this morning was not nice. We get through it and ignore them.

“I’m so grateful for all the nice posts and lovely comments. They override all the bad ones.”

She then told the Manchester Evening News: “The proposal was a complete shock… I was completely clueless to it all and as you can see by the pictures and video I couldn’t even speak.

“I cried very happy tears when Sacha called me. I don’t have a lot of good things happen in my life so for something like this to come along is a huge impact. Myles had arranged it all with Filly’s manager weeks prior.”

She went on to say that because they work normal jobs, it’ll be a couple of years’ until they’ll be able to afford their wedding, but she ‘definitely doesn’t mind waiting’.

Indy added: “I’m still in a lot of shock from yesterday and the amount of attention it’s got has sent me on a rollercoaster of emotions.”

Also speaking to the publication, Lord said he’s pleased his offer has ‘drawn a line under’ the negativity and backlash. He said: “I spoke to Indy as she was driving back to Scotland. She was very upset this morning. You could tell she was. I think what we’ve done is draw a line under it.

“She’s got my number now, her and Myles, she can call me any time, come to any of our events and they’re going to sit down, choose a wedding date and then we’re going to talk about packing them off on holiday.”
