A woman was left surprised after a stranger gave her a note out on her walk, making her day.

Tracey Hamnett, 47, was out walking on New Brighton Promenade around 3:45pm for the first time in a few weeks after the cold weather when she was stopped by a young woman.

Tracey said: “This young lady walked up to me. I thought at first she was going to ask for directions, and she just said can I give you this, please?

“She handed me a piece of paper and started skipping off with a nice spring in her step kind of thing.

“She lad lovely long hair, very pretty, in her early twenties.

“I looked at it and read it and said to her, ‘oh my god, that’s so nice. Thank you very much!'”

On the colourful post-it note that was handed to her was written: “In case nobody told you today – you are doing amazing, you are beautiful, you are loved.”

Tracey said: “She turned around and said I just want to spread a little kindness that was it, and she carried on her way handing little notes out to other people.

“It was lovely, and just what we need in the times we’re in at the moment.

“It was nice, and gave me a nice warm fuzzy feeling if I’m being honest.”

Tracey posted the news of the random act of kindness on the Wirral Gossip Facebook group and it received over 500 likes and hundreds of comments of support.

One wrote: “So sweet making someone feel very special lovely kind person very thoughtful xx”.

A second added: “It’s the little things that make you feel good, how nice is that x”.

While a third wrote: “Me and my son got one off her. Really made me smile. Thought it was a beautiful thing to do and could make such a positive impact on anybody who was having a bad day.”

The woman handing out the notes eventually saw the post and replied: “Thank you so much for sharing this! I’m so glad it made your day due to all the negativity with Covid. I thought it would be a nice thing to do to cheer people up as Covid has got all us feeling a bit down!”

Tracey told the Liverpool Echo that she appreciated the notes, adding: “When I used to go for a walk about seven o’clock before I went to work, I’d always try to make the effort to say good morning to someone.

“There’s so many people are walking with their heads down at the moment and it feels a bit glum and and miserable, so it’s just nice to know somebody else is there.”

What an amazing gesture!
