Channel 4 is on the hunt for adult virgins to star in a new documentary TV show.

The broadcaster said it’s on the lookout for virgins, or people who ‘have always struggled with intimacy’, to take part in a brand new TV show.

The programme, currently with the working title The Intimacy Retreat, will see participants take part in a series of workshops on a Mediterranean island.

Sharing a bit about the new programme, Channel 4 said: “The Intimacy Retreat (working title) is a six-part formatted documentary series for Channel 4 that follows the journey of a group of adults who are virgins (or identify as virgins) as they learn life-changing skills in the art of intimacy.

“Our leading sexologists will be running a unique Mediterranean island retreat that, using a radical and entirely new approach, will help people overcome their fears and insecurities when it comes to intimacy and sex.”

The broadcaster says that despite the world being more connected than ever before, young people in Britain are feeling less attached.

According to the Next Steps study by University College London, taken from 16,000 young people, the proportion of British people who have never had sex is significantly higher than in previous generations.

One in eight 26-year-olds told the UCL researchers that they were virgins, compared to one in 20 in previous generations. Some experts partly attribute this to a fear of intimacy and the risk of being humiliated on social media.

A spokesperson added:“We can all do with a little help navigating relationships, intimacy and sex. There may be many varied reasons why you are interested in talking to us.

“Maybe you just haven’t found the right person or you keep waiting for the ‘perfect moment’ that hasn’t come along.”

The broadcaster says the aim of the show is to ‘help people find or get back their confidence around intimacy and sex’.
