Kate Garraway sends message of support to Alex Beresford as he hosts GMB

Alex Beresford stepped in to co-host Good Morning Britain today, alongside Kate Garraway.

And Kate supported her co-host, welcoming him back to presenting duties as it’s been a long time since he hosted the weekday morning show.

Alex’s return to hosting came a week after he was back on GMB to present the weather, following roughly 10 days off after the Piers Morgan incident.

Following his now famous on-air row with Piers Morgan earlier in March over his comments on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the weather presenter went viral.

During the incident, Piers stormed off the GMB set before quitting later that day, which led to calls for Alex to host the show full-time.

Alex has hosted GMB before, although he more regularly presents the weather, but it’s been a while since he fronted the main show.

Kate said it was good to see Alex back beside her hosting, as they opened the show on Friday morning, before she went on to speak about ‘tumultuous times’.

Kate said: “And you’ve had tumultuous times as well Alex, it’s lovely to have you here, it very much is.”

Alex replied, while smiling: “It’s good to be back”.

While Piers hasn’t been permanently replaced yet, Ben Shephard has been standing in for him on a temporary basis.
