This year’s I’m A Celeb is set to look a whole lot different, but it’s not just bugs the campmates need to be wary of…

The 20th series of I’m A Celeb will look very different this year as the campmates head to the UK instead of the Australian jungle for the first time ever.

Plans for I’m A Celeb were rocked, like most things, by the coronavirus pandemic and for a while producers were unsure if the much-loved programme could go ahead.

Last week, ITV confirmed that the show will be back, but this time set in the UK in a creepy abandoned castle.

We’re used to seeing the celebs challenge themselves, overcoming fears of rats, heights, water, spiders and plenty more, but this year is set to be even spookier.

The camp is reportedly being set up in the ruins of Gwrych Castle in North Wales, a castle that is haunted by an angry woman in white. Legend has it that Countess of Dundonald’s husband stripped the castle of all its valuables, and she is still raging about it today.

An eerie photo from around 10 years ago has resurfaced showing a young woman on the first floor on what used to be the banquet hall.

Cynics would assume someone was just stood there to play a practical joke, however, the floorboards by that window have rotted away, meaning it would be impossible to actually stand there.

Producers have reportedly welcomed the mystery guest with open arms, hoping to capture strange-goings on in the night vision cameras. They’ve even incorporated the theme in the trials.

A source on the ITV show told The Sun: “Producers are chuffed with the new location — they’re excited for a change in scenery this year.

“Obviously upping sticks and moving to a completely new location was a tough decision, but they feel confident it’s the right one.

“The Bushtucker trial crew, who work tirelessly all year round, have been working overtime to come up with some terrifying new trials and challenges.

“It’s a brilliant move for viewers as celebs will have no idea what to expect. It’s going to be compelling viewing.”

The source added: “It’s been a horrendous year for the whole country and the lads want to do their bit to get viewers smiling.”

Trials are set to have a medieval theme, including jousting, dungeons and even gallows. It’s expected that the freezing waters of the Irish Sea are also set to be used.

The source added: “Just because it’s in the UK, it doesn’t mean that celebrities can breathe a sigh of relief and think they are free of snakes, rats and frogs.

“There are lots of plans to terrify them with some tried and tested methods.

“There will definitely be tasks where the stars have to eat unappetising things and put creatures in their mouths like previous years.

“They’re determined to make the trials as exciting and nail-biting as possible.

“Not only will there be creepy crawlies galore, but now they have the added aid of playing with a haunted castle. They think it will make for brilliant TV.”

The crew are set to self-isolate for the full three weeks while filming, to ensure the programme remains Covid-19 safe.

Taking over the creepy venue is reported to have cost ITV £1million to transform it for six weeks, as they prepare for the show and get the castle ready for visitors after.

The ghost of the gamekeeper is said to stalk the castle’s grounds – which include a really creepy pet cemetery – and there’s a servant girl who died while riding a horse.

If all those ghosts weren’t enough, there’s also been recordings of a voice from the stables and kennels.

The celebs, which include rumours of Tommy Fury, Katie Price and even Carole Baskin, might just have signed up for the scariest year yet!

I don’t know about you but I am SO excited.
