It’s been confirmed that Piers Morgan’s comments about Meghan Markle have officially become the most complained about moment in TV history.

Piers’ rant about Meghan when he was co-host of Good Morning Britain has now racked up a whopping 57,000 complaints

The outburst, in which he dismissed her claims of feeling suicidal, saw the broadcast watchdog even receive a complaint from the Duchess of Sussex herself.

Now Piers has spoken out, taking to Twitter to defend himself.

He wrote: “Only 57,000? I’ve had more people than that come up & congratulate me in the street for what I said.

“The vast majority of Britons are right behind me.”

Following the news that Good Morning Britain has been losing viewers since the departure of Piers, it looks like he could be right.

According to reports, GMB viewers has lost 255,700 viewers when compared to last Monday’s episode in which Piers was still presenting.

1.3 million people watched the show at its peak this Monday, with an average of 895,000 viewers, compared to the 1.9 million people who watched last week.

Before Piers’ outburst, the most complained about moment on TV was thought to be Roxanne Pallett and Ryan Thomas’ controversial Celebrity Big Brother punch row.
