A crime thriller which sees several detectives come across the same murder over the course of more than 150 years, starring Stephen Graham, is available to watch on Netflix now.

Bodies has finally dropped today, (October 19th) and is available to watch on the streaming platform Netflix.

Spanning over the course of four different time periods – 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053 – it brings four detectives together as they try to solve this mind-bending murder mystery. But this is not one long unsolved case, it’s the same person being killed four times.

The new series is based on a novel of the same name by Si Spencer, created for screen by writer Paul Tomalin.

Netflix says: “Bodies is part sci-fi, part murder mystery, part period drama, and part police procedural. The series stars Amaka Okafor, Emmy nominee Shira Haas, Olivier Award winner Kyle Soller, and SAG Award winner Stephen Graham.”

Stephen Graham will lead the cast portraying Elias Manning. Alongside Graham, the rest of the Bodies cast features a talented bunch of familiar faces, including Jacob Fortune-Lloyd (The Queen’s Gambit, See How They Run) as DS Whiteman, and Shira Haas (Unorthodox, Shtisel) as DC Maplewood.

Amaka Okafor (The Responder, Greatest Days) also joins the cast as DS Hasan, while Kyle Soller (The Inheritance, Andor) plays DI Hillinghead.

The synopsis for Bodies reads: “When a dead body appears in the streets of London, it seems like business as usual for the detective working the case.

“Unbeknownst to her, that same victim shows up in the same spot across three other points in time: in 1890, during the Victorian era; 1941, some of Britain’s darkest days of World War II; and 30 years in the future.

“As the investigations converge, they reveal a sinister conspiracy that threatens London.”

Speaking to Netflix, Tomalin called the new series ‘mind-snapping’ as he said: “It’s a police-procedural show that shifts and transforms from moment to moment, so you never know what’s coming next… This is a kinetic, ambitious thrill ride — a wolf in detective drama’s clothing.”

“When I heard that [directors] Marco Kreuzpaintner and Haolu Wang were combining to do the series, that sold it for me,” Graham, who plays a sinister authoritarian leader in the series, told Netflix.

“Writers Paul Tomalin and Danusia Samal did an amazing job of keeping it fresh and exciting,” he added.

If you think you have what it takes to solve this time-transcending, mind-bending murder mystery before reaching the end of the series, or just want to be blown away by a good crime thriller, then Bodies is one to watch.
