Primark wants to open for 24 hours a day when lockdown is over

Primark fans have been missing their discount shopping fix for large parts of this year, and they’re about to go another month cold turkey as the new lockdown begins tomorrow.

England is set for a four-week national lockdown from tomorrow, Thursday November 5th, meaning ‘non-essential’ shops like Primark will have to close again – find a full list of what can and can’t stay open here.

But there could be light at the end of the tunnel for Primark lovers, as according to The Telegraph bosses at the company want to open some stores for 24 hours after lockdown.

Bosses at the budget clothing retailer are considering opening selected stores for 24 hours a day from December, in a bid to help shoppers keep socially distant during the busy period up to Christmas.

The company’s Chief Executive George Weston said: “If we are able to trade in some stores up to 24 hours a day, then we can keep people more separate from each other more easily.

“We can keep the stores safer if everyone knows there are plenty of trading hours and they do not have to rush on a Sunday into a six-hour period.”

Primark reported losses of around £650million worth of sales a month during the 12 weeks it was shut earlier in the year.
