A 1950s-themed American diner and motel is set to open in Manchester later this year as part of the exclusive Soho House.
Mollie’s Motel and Diner will take over a section of the old Granada TV studios building down Quay Street, and will boast upwards of 140 rooms, a 164-cover diner restaurant, a lounge bar with live music, private hire event space, and a shared workspace.
There will also be a heated outdoor terrace in what will be the third and largest Mollie’s site to date, following recent openings in Oxfordshire and Bristol.
And on the menu, diners can expect a selection of breakfast and brunch favourites, such as eggs, fry ups, pancakes and waffles and bottomless filter coffee top ups – just like in the films.

There will also be a day time menu consisting of all the American classics like mac ‘n’ cheese, burgers, steaks and ribs.
Up in the motel, the interiors will be designed specially by Soho House, so guests can expect high-spec contemporary rooms with natural oak and terrazzo flooring and Conran furniture.

Soho House, which has private member clubs in far flung destinations such as Greece, India and the US, will be spread over three floors of the studio building, with the club’s owner Nick Jones recently confirming that it will feature a rooftop swimming pool.
Jones revealed that he is ‘nervous’ about his Mancunian venture, saying that he feels that way before launching in any new city.
Speaking at the Northern Restaurant and Bar show, he said: “I do feel nervous. Manchester has a vast number of bars. I really hope it will work, but I’m not in any way presuming it will. We want to employ everyone from Manchester, and then spend a lot of time learning and listening.
“There will be an element of glamour to the place, but with an element of grit too. We have a lot of local people working with us, so the programming will be local, the music [will be local].”
Soho House Manchester and Mollie’s Manchester are set to open late 2022 or early 2023. Visit the Soho House website and the Mollie’s Motel and Diner website for more information.
