Manchester’s much loved and boutique celebration of eclectic music and quirkiness is back for another of its cosy and personal gatherings this August Bank Holiday.
Taking place at picturesque Whitebottom Farm in Stockport, this year’s Moovin Festival will be another mouthwatering mix of returning musical favourites with some big name debuts for an eye popping line-up, running from Friday August 25th – Sunday August 27th.
While the line-up is big the capacity remains limited, and this year will feature names likes Groove Armada and house music mainstay Todd Terry, alongside the likes of Mr Scruff, Mungo’s HiFi feat Eva Lazarus, David Holmes, Massive Attack’s Daddy G performing a DJ set, Craig Charles, plus hip hop royalty Big Daddy Kane.
Also joining them will be Goldie playing live with his orchestra, Sister Nancy, Chali 2na from Jurassic5, Children of Zeus, Gilles Peterson, Stanton Warriors, Plump DJs, Jaguar Skills, Krafty Kuts, Freestylers, DJ Paulette, Graeme Park, Stereo MCs and many more.
The festival has hinted that this may be the last year it runs so the focus has been on inviting back their favourite acts from over the years meaning it can go out on a top note, giving audiences the very best last experience.
If you’re looking for a more relaxed, intimate and chilled vibe with an incredible line-up of artists and DJs then this is the festival for you.
There is no other escape from the madness and mayhem quite like a trip to Moovin Festival — the ultimate way to spend the late summer Bank Holiday.
Famous for its attention to detail, bespoke feel and friendly crowds, Moovin takes place at the eco-friendly Whitebottom farm in the stunning countryside of Etherow Country Park in Compstall, just 30 minutes from both Manchester and Sheffield.
It’s the perfect hideaway you will discover through a magical canopy of trees past a lake with busy waterfowl and into a breathtaking gorge.
The natural landscape is transformed into an adult playground with organic production, world class sound systems and stages, including the unique Barn Stage, a large open sided cow shed with bales of hay to kick back and relax on.
The festival boasts a host of independent businesses where visitors can enjoy ethically sourced foods and cocktails, yoga classes and holistic healing treatments. Festival goers can also enjoy circus performers, fire, and magic to help you forget the outside world for a truly special weekend.
Bringing D&B to the show will be Metalheadz founder and scene pioneer Goldie playing a special show with a full live orchestra that is sure to blow your mind. About the festival, Goldie said: “Something completely different. Loved it!”
Hip hop legend Big Daddy Kane will also make a welcome return to the stage and for the funk fans out there, Craig Charles will be back along with Mr Scruff, who can be sure to dig deep into his vast collection of tracks to keep the crowd moovin’.
Expect on point world music, jazz and broken beat from the one and only Gilles Peterson, while Massive Attack’s Daddy G also drops plenty of beat-based knowledge and the hugely influential New Yorker Todd Terry serves up one of his house masterclasses.
There will also be the unequalled David Holmes who is famed for his left of centre mix of trip hop, big beat, electronic and rock, plus breakout Manchester star Anthony Szmierek, as well as Mungo’s HiFi with Eva Lazarus and the one and only Jamaican dancehall DJ and singer Sister Nancy.
Breaks are well represented by pioneers Stanton Warriors, Plump DJs, Jaguar Skills, Krafty Kuts and Freestylers, and old school house comes from Hacienda Graeme Park.
DJ Paulette also lines-ups for an irresistible day of music, saying about playing at Moovin: “Whenever I get to play Moovin Festival it’s a highlight of my festival calendar. As soon as I see the waterfall I feel like im home. The crowd is just beautiful and tech energy is electric.”
“At the bottom of a tree lined valley, a hay barn with a fat sound-system…. A freewheeling crowd, no VIP red ropes, no hassle from the authorities, just music and good vibes…’90s free party? No its the brilliant Moovin’ festival,” added the Groove Armada after their first visit to the festival.
