If you were on the internet in the mid-2000s you will have no doubt come across the weird world of Salad Fingers.

The creepy, softly-spoken animated character had a love for rusty spoons, and managed to both freak out and intrigue a generation of people.

Now the man behind Salad Fingers, David Firth, is bringing his popular creation to Manchester for a special live show this summer.

Salad Fingers will be hitting the big screen over at The Comedy Store on Deansgate Locks, and Firth will be there to answer all your burning questions in a Q&A session.

The venue’s site says: “Join us for an evening of mind melting animation, featuring Salad Fingers creator David Firth, you will get to watch all 11 episodes of Salad Fingers and then put your questions to David after the movie.”

If for some reason you’re unfamiliar with Salad Fingers, the flash animation web series was created by Firth back in the heady days of July 2004, when the internet was still new, exciting and, well, strange.

In 2005, the San Francisco Chronicle ranked it among the ‘Top 10’ pop culture phenomena, and as of January 2020 eleven episodes have been published both on YouTube and the Newgrounds website.

Since then, Firth has produced several animations for the BBC Comedy website, including Musical Predictions, and Jerry Jackson in 2009, as well as a new series based on a character called ‘Drillbithead’ in 2010.

The event is coming to town on July 20th and kicks off at 8.30pm, with tickets setting you back £12 – head over to the site here to grab some and get more info.
