An immersive murder mystery game in an ‘actual’ haunted house will be happening in Manchester this Autumn.

Okay, we’re well aware that we still have four months to go until the most wonderful time of the year arrives (Halloween, obviously), but it’s never too early to start planning, is it?

The unique event, which will be taking place at a top secret – and supposedly haunted – abandoned building here in Manchester, will challenge players to uncover the identity of a murderer.

As a part of the investigation, guests will explore the many rooms of the haunted site, question suspects and decipher clues that will be discovered along the way.

Once inside the haunted building, players will have two hours to complete their investigation and unmask the murderer before they kill again.

The events description reads: “A horrible murder has taken place at a mysterious (and supposedly haunted!) abandoned building; there are many rooms to investigate and many suspects to question. Who is the real culprit?

“That’s what everyone wants to know, but not everyone is able to find out the truth… Do you have what it takes to solve the case? In this interactive game, you’ll have to face suspects, ask clever questions and decipher clues that you discover along the way. Uncover the murderer’s identity before it’s too late!”

Guests will be able to participate in the experience individually or as a group, with a maximum of fifteen people.

The events will be taking place on Friday October 8th, Saturday October 9th, and Sunday October 10th – most of the 7pm slots have sold out, but tickets for the 10pm slots are still available as well as the 7pm slot on the Sunday.

You can purchase your own ticket here – good luck catching that killer!

Manchester is launching The Super Duper Family Festival in February, a new free un-ticketed family event spread over four days.

There’ll be various activities that will transform the city into a giant, interactive playground from Saturday February 15th to Tuesday February 18th 2025.

Families can explore unique play zones scattered across Manchester, with everything from giant mazes and steam-powered carousels to retro video games and family raves.

The family festival will feature six key zones across the city, including The Garden in Exchange Square, featuring an 18m x 18m real hedge maze reaching two metres high.

Then there’s The Carnival in St Ann’s Square, a steampunk spectacle of old-school carnival games, including a traditional Victorian Carousel, a mind-bending Hall of Mirrors, and Test of Strength stand.

Other zones include The Playground with Waterloo Road, where popular schoolyard games come to life on New Cathedral Street in collaboration with BBC’s Waterloo Road, gaming at The Arcade in the Printworks, The Sports Hall at Great Northern Warehouse, and The Party at Aviva Studios.

Then there’s The Rave, bringing family raves and parties featuring a world-class sound system and dazzling lighting displays to the Great Northern Warehouse.

Venues like the National Football Museum, Stoller Hall, People’s History Museum and Castlefield Viaduct are also set to host their own exciting activities.

And families can experience the launch of CBBC’s Operation Ouch: Brains, Bogeys and You at the Science and Industry Museum.

Supported by the city’s hoteliers, Manchester Accommodation BID, the festival has been created in partnership with Manchester City Centre Business Improvement District, Manchester City Council, Marketing Manchester, Aviva Studio, Great Northern Warehouse and Printworks.
