The family of a young mum who took her own life last month have issued an emotional plea for those with mental health issues to not suffer alone.

Twenty-six year old Jade Roberts, from Knotty Ash in Liverpool, tragically died just hours after she filmed herself playing with her two sons, aged two and one, in her garden.

Though Jade had suffered from anxiety, her devastated family say they were unaware of the true extent of what she was going through, so they have bravely chosen to share her story in order to raise awareness of mental health and encourage others not to suffer in silence.

Her cousin Karl Thomas told the Liverpool Echo: “She had all the people around her in the world but it just shows you, you can be surrounded by people and still feel alone.

“It’s so important that people do talk about how they are feeling instead of bottling things up.

“There need to be more platforms for people to do this I think, now more than ever.”

Speaking of the video Jade had filmed in the hours leading up to her death, Karl noted: “You couldn’t see her because the camera was on the kids but she was laughing in the video.

“She was an unbelievable mum. Every minute of the day was dedicated to her children.

“They are very happy and loving children and it speaks volumes of the person she was because kids are a blank canvas at the end of the day.”

Karl added: “She genuinely had the biggest heart of gold. She would do anything for anybody.

“She was always more worried about other people and tried to sort out other people’s problems.

“Maybe that came from knowing how they felt and she didn’t want people feeling that way.”

A Go Fund Me page was swiftly set up by Jade’s friend Madina Wady to raise money for her two sons, and has so far surpassed over £14,000.

Karl said the family have been ‘blown away’ by the support they have received since Jade’s death.

If you or anyone you know has been suffering with mental health issues, you can call the Samaritans at 116 123, or CALM at 0800 58 58 58. Alternatively, you can find local mental health services and more info here.
